Memories 9 & 10 - Sig Neg and Sig Neu

Ninth Memory
"Gil left... It's because Gil hates the Nightrays."
Taken: Day 52

Just the third, fourth and fifth panel, and not the "And left his house.." part which isn't a part of the flashback.

I HAD THIS WRITTEN ONCE ALREADY AND LOST IT and am too lazy to do it again, but basically, this was a really upsetting memory because it stinks of hurt and betrayal. However it came right on the heels of a memory of his brothers being abusive to Gilbert and rejecting him and Vincent and he wonders if maybe Gilbert didn't always hate the Nightrays. However there is also a sense of 'Vincent is a douche, maybe he's lying', but he isn't sure.

Anyway this is why Elliot started avoiding his brothers.

Learned/Effects:
-Gilbert left when I was 13/14 ish.
-He hates the Nightrays...?

Tenth Memory
"Even without Raven's power, I will support the family in my own way!"
Taken: Day 57
Sharable, shape of ice flower, six uses. Must be used by Day 64

Right so! INFO AND FEELINGS DUMP. Basically more lol I guess my family wasn't perfect. He was not as troubled by this in his memory as he is NOW, because post-death and without his memories but WITH his sense of pride, he has been kind of building up an ideal of what his family must have been like, and recent memories are shattering that. In this memory he could accept Claude and Ernest's reaction as being fairly typical of them, but he also considered it the kind of thing that would blow over. Elliot in AATHER is genuinely surprised to keep learning that APPARENTLY Gilbert not being his blood relative matters, because he had really never thought of it that way. In his memories he doesn't AGREE with his older brothers, but he does seem to accept that 'this is the way they think'. But it's kind of why he personally makes a point to be like NO YOU ARE A NIGHTRAY YOU WILL USE YOUR CHAIN TO HELP THE FAMILY AND YOU ARE MY BROTHER 8|||

In a way this is helpful for Elliot NOW because he trusts his past self quite a bit! If his past self was like 'well okay this is how it is and this is how we change that', he can do that!

On the other hand, he still knows GILBERT LEFT BECAUSE HE HATES THE NIGHTRAYS, which was clearly after this. So... he took off with Raven? Were his brothers that bad? Why would he contract with Raven if he didn't want to stay? ELLIOT IS NOT REALLY ABLE TO CONCEPTUALIZE "Gilbert stole our chain" so it's just sort of a confusing circle of suck. Did something ELSE happen to make him finally hate us enough to leave 8|?? AND EVEN IF HE DOES how could he just go! WITH NO ANSWERS!!

Rarrgh.

Also blahblah chain info and Pandora info.

Learned/Effects:
-Claude and Ernest failed to contract Raven, as did another brother named Fred
-The Raven hasn't been contracted in a LONG time
-Gilbert 'obtained qualifications long ago...'?
-Gilbert contracted the Raven
-Contracting sounds kind of scary actually, but kind of awesome too =x
-Gilbert's wanted the Raven for a while now..?
-You contract with chains by taking their blood, swallowing it makes you an illegal contract, catching it in a mirror limits the power but prevents you from being sucked into the Abyss when the contract is over
--At some point I drank Humpty Dumpty's blood... ugh...
